Als wär es gestern erst
dass ich verließ
die Schatten auf den Bergen
die Cottages
verstreut im Moor
Torffeuerrauch
und den Geruch von Seetang
herangeweht
vom offnen Meer
weit offne Türen
und ein freundliches Willkommen
dem Fremden
der erzählt von seiner Welt
wohin,woher.
Als wär es gestern erst.
Doch lang ists her'.
So vieles ist verändert.

Like yesterday
when I had left
the shadows on the mountains
the scattered cottages
in the bog
the smoke of turffires
the smell of seaweed
rising from the open sea
wide open doors
a friendly welcome
for the stranger
of another world
from where he comes
and where he goes.
Like yesterday.
But this is long ago.
So much has changed.
